The Center of Evidence-based Policy Analysis (CEPA) is dedicated to high quality, policy-relevant research in applied economics. Research areas studied by CEPA fellows are diverse, covering questions in labor and welfare economics, behavioral economics, financial markets, and taxation (amongst others). CEPA collaborates closely with the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH).

  • ENACTUS Magdeburg/Sebastian Plesser (student, Master Program Economic Policy Analysis at FEM): Award – The non-profit start-up ‘Zimmerwald’ of Sebastian Plessner, a member of ENACTUS Magdeburg e.V., was awarded the 2023 6th National Annual Sustainability Award (1st place) of the Evangelische Bank (EB). The project Zimmerwald turns rooms and offices into green spaces, aids afforestation, and furthers the botanical education of people. The prize was awarded already in November 2023.
  • The “Best Paper Award“ for the Research Seminar went to Jun.-Prof. Huyen Nguyen from IWH, Kim Siegling from LS UFO and Christopher Woddow, research associate at LS U’rechnung/Accounting.
  • Meyer-Pinger, K. (Chair of Macroeconomics): Disputation of doctoral thesis took place on 20th February 2024 in the FWW faculty centre.
